Top Islamic State’s terrorist killed by Afghan troops.

The Afghan intelligence service says that Assadullah Orakzai – a top Islamic State terrorist was killed by the country’s security forces.

On late Saturday, the Afghan intelligence service in a statement said that it has killed a high ranking official, affiliated with the Islamic State, in an operation in eastern Afghanistan. The National Directorate of Security stated that Assadullah Orakzai was an intelligence leader for the Islamic State and near Jalalabad special forces executed him. Orakzai was suspected of being involved in many cruel attacks against both civilians and military targets in Afghanistan.

13% drop in Afghanistan terror attacks:

As per a United Nations report that was published last week, in the first six months of 2020, compared to the same period last year, Afghanistan saw a 13 percent drop in the number of causalities and injuries among the civilians, because of terror attacks. The report of this success gives credit to a decrease in the number of attacks by the Islamic State group along with the reduction of operations by international forces. Those forces lend support to the Afghan forces only when called upon by them. The report revealed that the UN recorded 97 attacks by the Islamic State last year, which dropped to 17 attacks causing causalities during the first six months of 2020. A total of 1282 people died due to the violence of IS in the first six months of this year with 2176 injured in Afghanistan. In March, a lone Islamic State terrorized a Sikh house of worship in Kabul and killed 25 worshippers along with wounding eight. The Afghan special forces rescued 80 worshippers who had been held hostage by the terrorist. The resurgence of the Afghan special forces is a positive sign in the battle against terrorism of the Islamic State.
