Tragedy: Three Labourers Die in Illegal Mining Operation in Gujarat

In a miserable incident, three laborers lost their lives due to suspected asphyxiation while engaged in illegal mining operations in Devpara village, located in Gujarat’s Surendranagar district. The laborers, hailing from Rajasthan, were reportedly digging in the Carbocell mine when the incident occurred.

Police Action Leads to Arrests of Illegal Mining Accused:

Following the tragedy, authorities swiftly responded by arresting two individuals accused of illegal occupation of the mines. District Collector KC Sampath also directed the Revenue Department workers to fill all pits dug for mining to prevent further incidents.

Demolition of Illegal Mines Continues as Administration Takes Firm Action:

District Collector KC Sampath revealed that approximately 1200 illegal mines have been demolished by the administration thus far. Further inspections uncovered additional illegal mining activities conducted by migrant laborers, prompting immediate intervention to fill up the unauthorized pits.

Confirming the deaths of the three laborers, the district collector emphasized the seriousness of the situation. The loss of lives underscores the dangers associated with illegal mining activities and highlights the need for stringent enforcement measures to protect vulnerable workers.
