Unaverred passion and dedication for the purity in music, have led Sohil Bloch to attain popularity as a folk singer and composer.

Sohil Bloch has sung many bhajans for Hindu Gods and has emerged as a top folk singer and ghazal sufi artist from the Gujarat Sugam Sangeet industry.

Music is an incredible art, as it has the power to transcend beyond the boundaries, break the stigmas, and bring people together. Many musicians come and make a name for themselves in the industry, but only a few transform the face of the industry, one such artist who emerged to do so with hard work and zeal is Sohil Bloch.

Hailing from a small village called Kalawad Shitala; Sohil Bloch is a Muslim singer, who has attained success singing Hindu bhajans and religious songs in and around Gujarat. Despite being born in a Muslim family, Sohil was well acquainted with the cultural beauty and music of the Hindu faith.

He got his love and passion for music through his father and sister, both of whom have been singers. He was determined to pursue his passion for music and did MPA (Master in Performing Arts) in Music from Hirani Performing Arts College, Rajkot.

In 1997, his musical journey began as he stood first in the government’s singing competition. Being a Muslim didn’t change his love for Hindu bhajans as he used to go to the Swadhyay Parivar and sing them.

Till now, Sohil has sung and composed in over 20 albums which consist of songs and bhajans. In 2010, he worked with famous folk singer Nidhi Dholakia on a bhajan dedicated to Lord Ganesh. In 2015, he re-composed Saint Narsinh Mehta’s timeless bhajan “Vaishnav Jan To” and incorporated elite 21 different singers of Gujarat including Kirtidan Gadhvi, Osman Meer, Lalita Gadadara, and Hemant Chauhan.

Apart from this, Sohil has also worked with Rajkot’s No.1 Akila Pioneer Navratri festival for five years. He is currently looking forward to his next song on God Swaminarayan which would get released in a month.
Sohil’s determination to challenge the boundaries and make music beyond the scope of politics and religion, he collaborated with a Pakistani Tabla player, Wajid Ali Khan.

This has impressed audiences and listeners across nations. Sohil got in touch with tabla maestro Wajid Ali Khan from Pakistan through Facebook, to create a devotional track on Lord Mahadev and go beyond the boundaries with the power of music, showing his efforts in strengthening the ties of two nations.

This has been seen as a one of a kind episode in the music industry where Muslim musical artists have shown their devotion to Lord Mahadev through their divinity filled song, raising goosebumps in every music lover across nations.

The hunger for creating pure music was bliss to his heart and composed the “Main to Jogi banke aya” song to perfection. His work in the industry has garnered him a popular following, with people appreciating his dedication to his craft. He works as a music teacher in Rajkot’s SNK School and continues to sing and compose bhajans and songs which have the power to transcend beyond the clutches of a mainstream world.

Being a Muslim, Sohil is an ardent devotee of Lord Mahadev and this is also the reason which ignited the fire in him to reach another musical artist in Pakistan to create a one of a kind devotional song that teaches people more about humanity.
