In an upcoming episode on Saturday, June 17, the Cartoon Network cartoon show ‘We Baby Bear’ will reportedly appear as nonbinary characters using they/them pronouns.
‘Polly’s New Crew’ is the title of the cartoon episode. The programme will feature two gender-neutral characters: a box and a parrot to be more inclusive.
We Baby Bear trailer introduces a new character:
In the show’s trailer, one character says, “I am the great Winnifred, she/her.” “Excellent actor!” This is when one of the bears introduces Box, a nonbinary character. “We also have a new member on our team.
They utilise they/them pronouns and cook an excellent quiche!” says the bear. Polly, the Pirate Captain, then flies over and confirms that they, too, use “they/them pronouns.”
According to the Daily Mail, Cartoon Network advised parents that they “will feature two nonbinary characters and a discussion about pronoun usage.”
“Addressing someone using their pronouns and name shows that you RESPECT them as their authentic self!” the channel tweeted on March 30, Transgender Visibility Day. On this #TransgenderDayofVisibility, we honour our trans and gender nonconforming friends’ journeys!”
Fans targeting Cartoon Network:
Dissatisfied social media users are already slamming Cartoon Network, with one saying, “Cartoon Network’s “We Baby Bears” is a children’s cartoon show.”
This episode features a non-binary box character who uses the pronouns they/them. But they’re not after your children!” “That would be removed from my TV!” one user commented on the post.
“That’s disgusting,” said another. That is certainly aimed towards very young children.” As one user said, “I’m just trying to get at the kids.” I feel like I say it a lot: disgusting and evil. “It seems to be everywhere,” another remarked, “and as for me… grandchildren, technology is killing our children.”
‘We Baby Bears’ is a TV series made by Manny Hernandez that is a precursor to the animated series ‘We Bare Bears,’ created by Daniel Chong. It first aired on January 1, 2022.
On January 31, 2022, the show was renewed for a second season, which would broadcast on June 17. The story follows Grizz, Panda, and Ice Bear as they look for a new home in a magical teleporting box.
