On Sunday, senior Congress leader and former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi, wondering if he could run alongside him.
He was reacting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s veiled remark during a rally in Karnataka that the former chief minister was seeking votes in the name of retiring from active politics.
Siddaramaiah tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a video of him sprinting alongside Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ last year.
In reaction to the Prime Minister’s remarks regarding persons seeking votes while claiming to be retired from politics, Siddaramaiah tweeted, “Did you, Mr @narendramodi, remove @BSYBJP as CM because he was tired?” Then you begged him to run for office on your behalf. Let’s go for a run and see who gets weary first. “I will serve my people until the day I die.”
On Saturday, Prime Minister Modi made a caustic remark about Siddaramaiah, saying, “A few Congress leaders are seeking votes on sympathy.”
They have stated that this will be their final election, and they will retire following the elections. However, voters will only support young and energetic BJP candidates.”
Siddaramaiah already stated that this will be his final election, and he will retire from electoral politics. However, he also said he would remain politically active after the 2023 assembly elections.
Meanwhile, PM Modi responded to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s statements on venomous snakes. “My government has been working hard to make a strong nation as well as eradicate corruption from its roots, and the Congress does not like it,” he stated.
In exchange, they’ve labelled me a ‘poisonous snake.’ Let me tell you something today: a snake is attached to Lord Eeshwar’s neck.
The inhabitants of this land are as equal to me as Lord Eeshwar, and I am their snake who dwells with them. On May 13, the people of Karnataka will give Congress an appropriate response.”
