Wimbledon 2025: Djokovic Clinches 100th Win, Krejcikova Crashes Out, Swiatek Cruises Ahead

Novak Djokovic achieved a historic milestone at Wimbledon 2025 on Saturday, July 5, becoming only the third player in the tournament’s storied history to reach 100 match wins. The Serbian legend joins tennis greats Roger Federer and Martina Navratilova in the elite club after defeating compatriot Miomir Kecmanovic in straight sets in the third round.

Djokovic dominated the match from the outset, clinching a commanding 6-3, 6-0, 6-4 win in just one hour and 47 minutes on Centre Court. After an even start with the first set tied at 3-3, Djokovic shifted gears, going on a remarkable nine-game winning streak. His aggressive and clinical play was evident as he hit 60 winners—42 more than Kecmanovic—asserting his authority with ease.

Reflecting on his 100th Wimbledon victory, Djokovic said, “Tennis made me who I am. I try not to take anything for granted.” The 24-time Grand Slam champion will next face Australia’s Alex de Minaur in the fourth round. De Minaur advanced with a 6-4, 7-6 (5), 6-3 win over Denmark’s August Holmgren.

Krejcikova Knocked Out by Navarro

In a major upset in the women’s singles draw, defending champion Barbora Krejcikova was knocked out by American Emma Navarro in a thrilling three-set encounter. Despite winning the first set convincingly, Krejcikova lost her rhythm as Navarro staged a comeback to win 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 in a match that lasted two hours and 36 minutes.

Navarro’s win sets up a highly anticipated fourth-round clash against 18-year-old Russian prodigy Mirra Andreeva, who continued her impressive run with a dominant 6-1, 6-3 victory over Hailey Baptiste of the United States.

Swiatek Breezes Past Collins

World No. 1 Iga Swiatek booked her place in the fourth round with a clinical 6-2, 6-3 win over American Danielle Collins. Swiatek needed just one hour and 15 minutes to wrap up the match on Centre Court, converting four of her 10 break point opportunities to keep Collins at bay.

Speaking after the match, Swiatek said, “I was just in the zone. I knew I needed to be brave and let my hand do the job. There were no ups and downs. It was a good match.”

Swiatek will next face Denmark’s Clara Tauson, who pulled off a surprise win against 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina, defeating her 7-6 (8-6), 6-3.

Indian Challenge: Bhambri Keeps Hopes Alive

From the Indian contingent, Yuki Bhambri remains the only player left in the main draw. Bhambri and his American partner Robert Galloway advanced to the third round of men’s doubles after beating the pair of Nuno Borges and Marcos Giron 6-3, 7-6 (8-6).

However, it was the end of the road for India’s Rithvik Bollipalli and Colombia’s Nicolas Barrientos, who lost a tight match 4-6, 6-7 (7-9) to British duo Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski. Earlier, N Sriram Balaji and Miguel Ángel Reyes-Varela also bowed out in the second round.
