Xi Jinping wants to continue advancing China-Nepal ties.

The Chines President, XI Jinping, said that he is willing to work with Nepal for the continued advancement of the bilateral relationship.

On Saturday, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that he wants to continue the advancement of bilateral relations with Nepal. The announcement comes in the middle of the intra-party feud in the ruling communist party of Nepal. Beijing has made good relations with Nepal Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli, who has a pro-China stance. 

65 years of China-Nepal diplomatic relations:

On the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations, Xi Jinping sent his congratulations to his Nepalese counterpart Bidhya Devi Bhandari and asserted that he was ready to work for the betterment of the two country’s populations. Jinping wants a continued advancement of ties with Nepal and attaches great importance to the progress of the bilateral relationship. Xi also stated that since the establishment of the diplomatic ties, both China and Nepal have respected each other, enhanced political mutual trust, and treated each other as equals. On August 1, 1955, diplomatic relations occurred for the first time between China and Nepal.

PM Oli wants to reduce dependence on India:

China wants Oli to continue being the Prime Minister as, during his brief tenure in 2016, he furthered the two nations’ ties by signing the transit trade treaty with Beijing to lessen his country’s dependence on India. Nepal’s ambassador to China in a daily stated,” Our leaders stressed the need to intensify implementations of the memorandum of understanding on cooperation under the BRI under the framework of the Trans-Himalayan Multi-Dimensional Connectivity Network”. Oli recently alleged India of conspiring with his political rivals to throw him out of power as they believe he is a pro-Chinese leader.
