The Centre orders de-induction of 10,000 troops from
Jammu & Kashmir immediately; Troops to go back to where they were
mobilized, before moving to J&K post the abrogation of Article 370 last
year.
On Wednesday, the Centre
ordered immediate withdrawal if around 10,000 paramilitary personnel from the
Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. Post last year’s abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution that gave J&K state a
unique status, the Centre order is the biggest de-induction of armed forces in
the UT.
Home Ministry reviewed the
biggest de-induction of armed forces from J&K:
Senior officials in the government revealed that the Ministry of Home Affairs reviewed the deployment of the Central Armed Forces (CAPFs) in J&K, and took the decision of withdrawing around 10,000 troops. Previously, in May, 10 CAPF companies were withdrawn by the Home Ministry, and 72 such units were mobilized out in last year’s December. A senior official told PTI that a total of 100 CAPF companies have been ordered to be withdrawn, and have been asked to revert to their base locations in the country. By the end of this week, a total of 20 companies each of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the Border Security Force and the Sashastra Seema Bal, and 40 companies of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will be moved out of the Union Territory.
The Centre de-inducts the
personnel citing, recuperation, rest for the armed forces:
The official revealed that
these forces deserve a much-required rest, recuperation, and training, and it
would have been difficult to keep these units in make-shift and temporary
dwelling units, for the second year in a row. Post the latest de-induction in
the Kashmir valley, CRPF will have a strength of about 60 battalions, with 1000
personnel in each of them.
