A 25-year-old woman was gang-raped and attacked early on Sunday morning by four men in a real estate dealer’s office in the DLF Phase 2 area.
According to the police, the woman sustained severe head injuries and is seeking care in a private hospital, where her health is ‘stable’.
Four suspects, three of whom are employed by a food distribution company, were arrested on Sunday morning, police said.
Police said the incident took place about 1.30 a.m. when the woman, who lives in Delhi, stood near the metro station in Sikanderpur.
The police said that she met a man, citing her comment, and after a brief talk, she agreed to join him on his motorcycle to a DLF phase 2 office, where he worked as a helper and cleaner.
According to the police, three of the helper’s friends were already present when she got there. Police said, citing the victim’s testimony, that she felt awkward seeing so many men and attempted to leave, but the accused forced themselves and attacked her.
She alleged that she was assaulted by four men and they thrashed her as she resisted. She was punched and kicked several times, and her head was smashed against the wall and the concrete, as per her testimony to the police.
After sexually assaulting her, police said the four defendants left her stranded on the road, locked the office, and ran away on motorcycles. After they found the woman, some private security guards called the police while she was profusely bleeding from the head and in a distressed state.
In DLF step 2, a police team arrived at the scene and rushed her to a private hospital. She was referred to the Civil Hospital after primary care.
Karan Goel, the assistant police commissioner (ACP), DLF, said, “She suffered primarily from head injuries and was bleeding.”
As no brain surgeon was available at the civil hospital at the time, she was taken for treatment to a private hospital in Sector 38. Her situation is secure. She is aware of her comment and has documented it.
She said she had been raped by four men who had beaten her as she tried to resist. We contacted her family, and a team went to Delhi to tell them.
Goel said the police arrested all the suspects on Sunday morning, based on information provided by the victim.
The suspects were named by police as Pankaj Kumar, 26, Ranjan Yadav, 23, Pawan, 24, and Govind Yadav, 20, who were arrested on Sunday morning. The police state that all of them live in the village of Chakkarpur.
Ranjan works at the real estate office in DLF phase 2, where the incident occurred, as a helper and cleaner, whereas the other three work as delivery people for food aggregators.
A claim was filed upon the accused under Sections 376 D (gang rape), 323 (voluntary harm), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code at the DLF Phase 2 police station on Sunday, the police added.
In 2019, 159 gang rape cases were reported in Haryana, according to the ‘Crime in India’ study by the National Crime Records Bureau.
