With the development of these Reference Materials, NDTL has established itself as one of the few labs globally that have created such RMs.

Anurag Thakur, Union Sports Minister, launched six new and rare Reference Materials (RMs) on Sunday. The purest form of chemical required for anti-doping analysis in all WADA-accredited laboratories worldwide.

The six RMs were developed in slighter than a year by the (National Dope Testing Laboratory) NDTL in collusion with the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education also Research (NIPER)-Guwahati and the CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM). Jammu, according to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for anti-doping science. “We will be exporting these RMs to other countries very soon,” Anurag Thakur said.

With the story of these RMs, NDTL has earned the distinction of being one of the few labs in the global to have developed such RMs.

“These Reference Materials are not widely available worldwide but are require by every WADA-accredited laboratory for anti-doping analysis. Three of the six Reference Materials were the story in collaboration with NIPER-Guwahati and CSIR-IIIM, Jammu. Scientists from NDTL and NIPER-Guwahati also succeeded in synthesizing two indigenously developed rare Reference Materials in 2021. Which were launch and share with other WADA-Accredited Laboratories.

The release of these Reference Materials will result in improved anti-doping testing. Which is in line with the sports ministry’s commitment to promoting and implementing anti-doping programs in the country to ensure sportsmanship.
