A Bihar court has given an arrest warrant for Ekta Kapoor
The warrant was issue by Judge Vikas Kumar base on a complaint filed by Shambhu Kumar. An ex-serviceman and Begusarai resident.
A court in Bihar’s Begusarai district issued an arrest warrant for producer-director Ekta Kapoor also her mother Shobha Kapoor for their web series ‘XXX.’
ALTBalaji, an over-the-top (OTT) platform owned by Ekta Kapoor’s TV company Balaji Telefilms, aired the series. The company is associate with Shobha Kapoor.
It is an erotic comedy-drama in which each episode tells a different story about different aspects of sexual relationships. The first season premiered in 2018, also the second in January 2020.
According to news agency PTI, the arrest warrants were issue against the mother-daughter duo on charges of insulting soldiers also hurting the sentiments of their family members in the web series.
Judge Vikas Kumar issued the warrants in response to a complaint filed by Shambhu Kumar.
Kumar, an ex-serviceman and Begusarai resident, claimed in his 2020 complaint. That the web series contained several objectionable scenes involving a soldier’s wife. Kumar’s lawyer, Hrishikesh Pathak, told PTI that summons had been issue. Also that the court had ordered the Kapoors to appear in court.
“They (Ekta and Shobha Kapoor) inform the court, however, that certain scenes in the series were remove following the objection. However, they did not appear in court, so the warrant was issue against them,” Pathak explained.
