South African batting legend AB de Villiers has expressed that Rohit Sharma has no reason to retire, praising the Indian captain for his outstanding performance and leadership. Speculation had been swirling about Rohit’s potential retirement from ODIs after the Champions Trophy, but the 37-year-old silenced these rumors by leading India to an unprecedented third title in the tournament. De Villiers highlighted Rohit’s impressive win percentage of nearly 74%, which he noted is significantly higher than that of any other past captain.

“If he keeps going, he will certainly go down as one of the best ODI captains of all time,” de Villiers said on his YouTube channel. Rohit himself has dismissed retirement rumors, stressing that he has no plans to step down.

Rohit’s pivotal role in India’s Champions Trophy final against New Zealand was another key point of admiration from de Villiers.
