After Ayodhya now it’s Ujjain in the Guinness World Record list

The Ujjain city of Madhya Pradesh has set a new Guinness world record for lightning 18.82 lakh diyas.

On Saturday evening, Ujjain city in Madhya Pradesh made its way to the Guinness world record list by lightning with around 18.82 lakh diyas. 

The event occurred at the banks of the Kshipra river, and around 20,000 volunteers participated. 

The Guinness World Records adjudicator, Swapnil Dangarikar, stated, The prior world record for the “largest display of oil lamps” was placed in Ayodhya during Diwali 2022 when 15.76 lakh lamps were lit. 

According to him, the record was broken in Ujjain on 

Saturday evening when 18.82 lakh oil lamps were lit.

Five minutes was the minimum time for the dias to be lit, and it has been done here successfully here, he stated. 

The local administration organized the event with the help of citizens groups. 

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who was present at the event with his wife, later informed that 18,82,229 lamps were lit on the occasion. A laser show was also put on.

According to our sources, the target was to light up around 21 lakh oil lamps on the occasion of Mahashivratri. Still, they managed to make 18.82 lakh lamps.

Last year during Maha Shivaratri, 11,71,078 earthen lamps were lit in Ujjain. According to city officials, the entire Saturday event was based on the “zero waste” principle.
