Ajay Devgn Rushed Mahima Chaudhry to Plastic Surgeon After Horrific Car Crash

Ajay Devgn Rushed Mahima Chaudhry to Plastic Surgeon After Horrific Car Crash

Bollywood actress Mahima Chaudhry has opened up about a terrifying accident that nearly derailed her career, crediting co-star and producer Ajay Devgn with saving both her face and her future in the film industry. The incident occurred in Bengaluru during the 1999 shoot of Dil Kya Kare, her second film as a leading actress.

While on location, Mahima’s car collided with a milk truck allegedly travelling in the wrong direction. The impact shattered the vehicle’s windows, sending glass fragments into her face and leaving her with multiple injuries. For a young actress still finding her footing in Bollywood, the damage felt potentially career-ending.

Ajay Devgn’s Crucial Intervention

Speaking on The Kapil Sharma Show, Mahima recalled how Ajay, serving as the film’s producer, immediately took charge of the situation. Rather than allowing her to receive treatment from any available doctor, he insisted she be seen by a qualified plastic surgeon. “He said that you have to go to a plastic surgeon,” Mahima recounted, noting that most producers of that era would simply have sent her off without a second thought.

A Recovery Kept Under Wraps

Ajay and director Prakash Jha also honoured Mahima’s request to keep the accident out of the press. She feared that public knowledge of her injuries could damage her prospects at a critical stage of her career. Their discretion, combined with specialist medical care, allowed her to recover fully and continue working.

The film also starred Kajol and Chandrachur Singh. Mahima has since described Ajay Devgn as the most caring co-star she has ever had the privilege of working with.
