All about new Rajasthan accident insurance scheme for students

In a pioneering initiative, the state has launched a first-of-its-kind scheme offering personal accident insurance coverage of Rs 1 lakh to 1.3 lakh students in government schools across the Udaipur division. The scheme also extends coverage in case of an accidental death of a student’s parent, as confirmed by officials from the education department.

This unique program, which was introduced for the first time, aims to provide financial security to schoolchildren and is set to be expanded, eventually benefiting over one crore students across Rajasthan. The objectives of the scheme include ensuring the continuity of education for children, preventing child labor, promoting financial inclusion through Digital India, discouraging misuse of insurance claim amounts, fostering a habit of saving from an early age, and providing scholarships with interest until the child turns 18 in the event of a parent’s accidental demise.

During the launch event, Minister Madan Dilawar distributed insurance policies and kits to the students present. This initiative is seen as a major step towards securing the future of schoolchildren and promoting financial security across the state of Rajasthan.

Minister Dilawar is currently on a visit to Udaipur and participated in various programs, including the Shiksha Jeevan Personal Accident Insurance Ceremony at the Residency School. His team confirmed that this is the first scheme of its kind in the country. “Currently, over one lakh students in Udaipur are benefiting from this initiative. The scheme will soon be expanded across Rajasthan, ensuring that all students in the state receive its benefits,” said the officials.

Preparations are underway to extend this benefit to students in other districts, with a target of reaching over a crore students soon. This initiative marks a significant step in enhancing the financial security and future prospects of students in Rajasthan.
