Anshul Kamboj Emerges as IPL 2025’s Most Complete T20 Bowler

Twenty-five-year-old pacer Anshul Kamboj has undergone a remarkable transformation since his forgettable Test debut against England last year, where he returned figures of 1/89 in Manchester. Barely a year later, he is one of the most talked-about bowlers in IPL 2025, turning heads with his fitness, skill, and match-winning consistency for Chennai Super Kings.

A Purple Cap Contender in Full Flight

Across nine matches this season, Kamboj has claimed 17 wickets, placing him level with Bhuvneshwar Kumar of Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the top of the wicket-takers chart. He trails Bhuvi only on economy rate — 8.49 compared to 7.54. His most recent outing against Mumbai Indians saw him dismiss Will Jacks, Hardik Pandya, and Robin Minz to set up a comfortable CSK win.

Former India batsman Ambati Rayudu called him a genuinely complete T20 bowler, highlighting his rare ability to deliver effectively in the powerplay, middle overs, and at the death — a combination, Rayudu noted, that only a handful of bowlers in IPL history have truly mastered.

CSK’s Blueprint Unlocks Kamboj’s Death Bowling

Former Mumbai Indians pacer Mitchell McClenaghan credits CSK’s renowned coaching setup for sharpening Kamboj’s death bowling. He believes Kamboj lacked a clear plan at the death before joining the franchise, but under bowling coach Eric Simons, he has developed a reliable around-the-wicket angle and consistent yorkers that are now a genuine weapon.

With the Purple Cap within reach, Kamboj’s rise is one of IPL 2025’s standout stories.
