Gandhinagar Corporation has received more than 40 crore property tax payments so far in the financial year 2022-23. There are 1.74 lakh properties in the business area, including new and old places, residential and commercial. 

However, the tariff of property received by the Capital Planning Department from this property has yet to be acquired by the Municipal Corporation. Gandhinagar Corporation collects tax by giving notices to residents for arrears of property tax. 

At that time, the company owes more than 40 crores of property tax, including government offices and housing in its area.

Since the installation of the Corporation, the property tax of the Old Secretariat, New Secretariat, Raj Bhava, CM House, Minister’s Residence and District Offices in Gandhinagar is outstanding in the Corporation. Eighteen per cent interest from ordinary citizens, and the Corporation takes measures to seal properties if required.

A tax of almost 19 crores of government housing is currently unpaid.

The Corporation cannot do anything besides deal with the unpaid tax of government offices-housing. As a result, the due tax figure has got to 40 crores. 

Almost ten crores of the new secretariat where the government directs the state, more than four crores of the old administrations, approximately five crores of R&B-owned offices, and around 19 crores of government places are due.
