BCCI General Manager Saba Karim resigns.

The reason for Saba Karim’s resignation from BCCI’s General Manager Cricket Operations post is still not known, but sources hint that BCCI wants to work with a fresh set of professionals.

Former India wicketkeeper, Saba Karim handed in his resignation from the post of general manager cricket operations in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The reason for Karim’s resignation is not known yet, but it seems clear that the BCCI is looking to work with a fresh set of professionals. Last week, CEO Rahul Johri was relieved of his services, which shows BCCI’s resolve to work with different mind-set.

Saba Karim will serve his notice period: 

Saba Karim, who had taken the role in January 2018, was involved heavily in the decision of the BCCI to appoint Rahul Dravid as the head of cricket for National Cricket Academy. Karim also had ensured the smooth running of the domestic cricket and handed his resignation to BCCI’s President Sourav Ganguly and BCCI secretary, Jay Shah on July 18 and will serve out his notice period.

BCCI to search the next General Manager in Cricket Operations:

A board official said,” We have received his resignation; he will serve his notice period. The board will lookout for a new GM in cricket operation. The Apex Council has given powers to office bearers to fill up the post.” The official highlighted the responsibilities of Karim which included implementing operational plans, budgeting, giving strategic direction to the cricket department and monitoring the compliance of match playing regulations, administration of domestic programs, and standard of venues.

Saba Karim played for India in one Test and 34 ODIs. Karim had a career spanning 18 years in the sport with playing 120 first-class games.
