International Premier League 2022: The BCCI has yet to decide on holding a closing ceremony ahead of the final. Which will be held on May 29 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

BCCI intends to hold a closing ceremony for the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) edition.

The popular T20 league hasn’t had an opening or closing ceremony since the 2019 edition. But the BCCI hopes to have one at the end of this season if the Covid-19 situation in the country is under control.

According to a BCCI source, holding a closing ceremony is being considere. But the top brass has yet to make a final decision. The concept behind reintroducing the closing ceremony is to give the T20 extravaganza a colorful finish.

Notably, the BCCI issued a proposal request for the closing ceremony on Saturday, April 16.

“Through a tender process, the BCCI invites bids from reputed entities for staging the Closing Ceremony of IPL 2022,” the Indian cricket body said in a release. Adding that a ‘Request for Proposal’ document will be available for Rs 1 lakh. The RFP will be on the market until April 25, 2022.

Since 2019, the IPL has not had an opening or closing ceremony. The 2019 IPL did not have an opening ceremony for the first time in its history because the now-defunct Committee of Administrators. Who were appointed to oversee the operations of the BCCI. Decided to donate the allocate fund to the families of CRPF personnel who were kill in a terror attack in Pulwama.

The IPL 2020 and 2021 tournaments were not glamorous affairs. As they were hold behind close doors or with a small crowd in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, with India’s Covid-19 situation under control. The BCCI allowed for a 25% crowd capacity at the four IPL 2022 venues in Mumbai and Pune.
