BCCI to go ahead with IPL after getting fed up with ICC’s delay.

ICC has been delaying the T20 World Cup decision and BCCI is all set to go ahead with IPL preparations.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken the decision to go ahead with its preparations of the Indian Premier League (IPL) getting fed up with the delay on the part of the International Cricket Council (ICC) to share the final verdict on this year’s T20 World Cup. BCCI believes that ICC has taken a lot of time to decide the fate of the T20 World Cup, and question marks are being raised on ICC whether the council has deliberately delayed the decision or not.

BCCI has now decided to go ahead with preparations for the IPL, and a tentative schedule has also been drawn, indicating that the Indian Cricket Board will not wait anymore to hear from the ICC.

BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal on Monday said,” The year started on a horrible note and there’s been no relief on any front. But as time goes by, we need to take things head-on and ensure that we remain prepared for any eventuality. Cricket is no different. It is time for BCCI to start planning for the year ahead.” Dhumal highlighted the fact that world-over, mainstream sports were gradually returning to action and stated,” The NBA is beginning in the US in a protected zone. The English Premier League (EPL) is on and so are FA Cup matches. Bundesliga was the first to show the way. What BCCI is talking about is making plans, even if at the contingency levels, for September onwards.” Dhumal underlined that domestic leagues and competition has returned in many Covid-19 affected countries and that domestic competitions are much better suited to go ahead instead of international events.

BCCI confirms IPL is on its way:

Many stakeholders of BCCI have been asking for ICC’s decision on the schedule of the T20 World Cup in Australia, but even after many meetings and deliberations, the international council has failed to decide the fate of it. This has led to BCCI going ahead with its preparations irrespective of ICC’s decision.
