2nd century swords and coin treasures of Sharjah shown to the Sharjah ruler by Archaeologists are making buzz. Pictures coming out of coins, jugs, and swords are interesting. These pictures clear that life in Sharjah was there in the 2nd century.
2nd-century coin and swords of Sharjah:
Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi show a Roman key and 32 swords with coins of the 2nd century. Scientists at Sharjah Archaeology Authority also pointed Sheikh Dr Sultan a white glazed-pottery jar with some green flaws.
409 COINS of 2nd century Sharjah:
The treasure trove of 409 coins is of February 2021 research. It is a great achievement by researchers, very important too. The coins came from a wide geographical area, including Africa in the west and the east’s Transoxiana region. Including the Caliph Abu Ja’far Al Mansur, Muhammad Al Mahdi Harun Al Rashid, Muhammad Al Amin and Abdullah Al Ma’mun.
Penny found, is the penny of the era of Caliph Al Mahdi. Dr Sabah Aboud Jasim, SAA’s director-general, said these treasures shows life was there in the 2nd century in the Sharjah desert. And we now have the proof that Abbasid presence in the region.
IRON SWORDS OF 2ND CENTURY Sharjah:
Thirty-two iron swords of different shapes are also found in Mleiha Sharjah. All the IRON used in swords are of the Roman period. This swords are one of the most important artefacts recognise by the Authority.
Mleiha Archaeological Centre:
