Bengali singer Nirmala Mishra has died at the age of 81

Nirmala Mishra, a Bengali singer, has died.

According to her family members, the veteran singer, Bengali singer Nirmala who had been suffering from age-related ailments for so many years. She has taken to a nearby nursing home and declared dead.

Nirmala Mishra, a well-known Bengali singer, died of a heart attack on Saturday night at her home in Chetla, South Kolkata.

She was 81 years old.

Her body was transported to Rabindra Sadan around 11 a.m. and left there for the public to pay their respects. In the evening, the last rituals were performed. She sang several songs in Odia and Assamese films and Bengali. While the West Bengal government honored her with the ‘Sangeet Samman,’ ‘Sangeet Mahasamman. And ‘Bangabhibhushan,’ she also received the Sangeet Sudhakar Balakrishna Das Award for her lifetime contribution to Odia music.

Mishra, born in South 24 Parganas in 1938, captivated music fans with hit songs such as ‘O tota pakhi re,’ ‘Emon Ekta jhinuk khuje pelam na,’ and ‘Ei Banglar mati te,’ among others. Likewise, her Odia film songs. Such as ‘Nida bhara raati Madhu jhara janha’ and ‘Mo mana beena a Taare,’ were memorable.
