Bhooth Bangla Earns Rs 127 Crore Worldwide in Opening Week

Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan’s horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla has delivered a strong opening week at the box office, accumulating Rs 127.37 crore worldwide in just seven days. The film, which shifted its release date from April 10 to April 17, has proven that the delay paid off handsomely, drawing large audiences across India and overseas markets.

A Dominant Week at the India Box Office

According to box office tracking platform Sacnilk, Bhooth Bangla collected Rs 78.90 crore net in India, translating to a gross of Rs 93.87 crore domestically. The film opened strongly with Rs 12.25 crore on Day 1 and peaked at Rs 23 crore on Day 3, before settling into a steadier run on weekdays. Despite sharing screens with Ranveer Singh’s espionage thriller Dhurandhar 2, Bhooth Bangla emerged as the clear frontrunner of the week, pushing its rival into a gradual box office decline.

The film is now firmly on course to cross the Rs 150 crore worldwide mark, with the India gross expected to breach Rs 100 crore imminently.

Cast, Budget, and What Lies Ahead

Set in the eerie fictional town of Mangalpur, the film follows Arjun Acharya (Akshay Kumar) as he confronts the demon Vadhusur to protect his family. The ensemble cast includes Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Mithila Palkar. Mounted on a reported budget of Rs 120 crore, the film has already recovered its investment within its opening week.

With an open-ended narrative leaving room for further storytelling, the production house is reportedly in early discussions for a sequel, though no official announcement has been made yet.
