The infection tally rises to 456,183 with the death
toll at 14,476—Recovery-rate at 56.71 percent.
On Wednesday, India recorded its biggest single-day surge in Covid-19 infections & deaths with 15,968 new cases
& 465 deaths in the last 24 hours. India has registered 14,000 plus cases
for a fifth consecutive day. The big surge in cases took the nation’s Coronavirus tally to 456,183 and the country’s death toll
rose to 14,476 causalities as per the Union Health Ministry’s data.
The number of active Covid-19 cases also rose to 183,022 while about 258,684 patients have recovered from the fatal virus. Even though there has been a huge surge in the number of cases, the cured patients’ numbers keep increasing and managed a gap of 75,662 cases from its active count. India’s recovery-rate remained around 56.71 percent revealed the Health Ministry’s data.
Delhi’s Covid-19 tally growing
at the fastest rate:
On Wednesday, Delhi’s Covid-19
infections rose to 66,602 after registering fresh 3947 new cases. This is the
biggest single-day count of cases in the national capital region to date. Delhi has turned into a red-hotspot in the last few weeks
and it registered 69% of the total cases in just the last 23 days, from June 1
to June 23. The death toll reached 2301, with 68 deaths reported yesterday.
Delhi is now second in the highest fatality count in India, Maharashtra remains first with 6283 deaths. Delhi’s
government has also increased the testing and urged the people to abide by the
social distancing norms. The national capital may overtake the country’s
financial capital- Mumbai in the next 2-3 cases if the cases rose at
this rate.
Globally 9.24 Million people
have been affected by the disease and over 477,000 people have died.
