A fully battery-powered sport utility vehicle (SUV) named the ‘iX’ was disclosed by BMW AG on Wednesday. The vehicle is suspected of going on sale in the United States by early 2022 and will compete with Tesla Model X as well as other similar cars in the similar segment.

According to German Automaker:

The German automaker said that the travelling range of the iX SUV would be 300 miles (480 km), which is comparatively lower than the projected driving range of the Tesla Model X Long Range, which in the United States is 371 miles.

BMW claims that at a quick-charging station, drivers will be able to add 75 miles of range in ten minutes.

Some other things you should know about BMW iX:

The iX SUV will be equivalent in size to the existing BMW X5 SUV, as per BMW, and will have similar external dimensions.

For the record, the X5 is a very big SUV, competing against the Audi Q7. The iX will feature a dashboard inside the cabin with a sweeping, curved panel.

Adrian van Hooydonk Stated:

The BMW iX illustrates how we can offer a very modern and emotionally stimulating interface to emerging technologies.

The car is highly complex technologically, but it feels very simple and uncomplicated, “says Adrian van Hooydonk, BMW Group Design Senior Vice President.”

The BMW iX creates a mobile living space in which people can feel relaxed, and the intellect of the car is still accessible without being obtrusive.

As the company’s latest technology flagship, it is expected to go into production at the BMW Dingolfing plant in the second half of next year.

The New Upcoming Feature:

With new upcoming models, the battery-driven SUV segment seems to be heating up. Tesla’s Model X is already competing with Chinese startup Nio, and the Cadillac brand of General Motors Co recently unveiled a mid-size electric SUV named the Lyriq, which is scheduled to be launched in 2022.

Mercedes-Benz, as well as Volkswagen AG of Daimler AG, have hybrid luxury vehicles in the works. The Mustang Mach-E of Ford Motor Co aims for a slice of the market for performance enthusiasts identified by BMW decades ago.
