The scope of the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) probe into the NEET-UG malpractice case in Gujarat has expanded. Revealing more individuals involved in the racket than initially presumed. The CBI informed a Godhra court on Friday while seeking custody of four out of five suspects arrested by the police.
Investigation Details on NEET-UG Malpractice Case:
Since taking over the case in Godhra, the CBI has inspected multiple NEET centers and the accused’s residences. Several people, including parents of students suspected of paying significant sums for leaked questions and answer keys, have been interrogated.
Godhra, located in the Panchmahal district, was identified as the epicenter of the racket. The CBI counsel revealed that students were encouraged to select Gujarati as their language preference for the test and choose Godhra as the examination center. This modus operandi mirrored similar tactics used in the previous year’s malpractice.
Key Centers and Individuals on NEET-UG Malpractice Case:
The malpractice was centered at Jay Jalaram School in Godhra and another facility near Wanakbori, both under the management of Dixit Patel, who the CBI questioned on Thursday. Arif Vahora, Purshottam Sharma, Vibhor Anand, and Tushar Bhatt are among the four arrested individuals for whom the CBI sought custody.
Importance of Custodial Interrogation:
The CBI emphasized that interrogating these suspects is crucial for identifying and apprehending others involved in the conspiracy. This includes those who facilitated connections between willing students and the perpetrators of the paper leak.
The court is set to deliver its verdict on the CBI’s custody plea on Saturday. Marking a critical development in the ongoing investigation into the NEET-UG malpractice in Gujarat.
This case underscores significant lapses in exam security and highlights the efforts. It needed to safeguard the integrity of competitive examinations in India.
