Chandigarh University: Girls afraid to use the Toilet after video was leaked; everything you need to know

Girls at Chandigarh University are afraid to use the Toilet after a video was leaked.

While the protests have subsided and the university has announced a two-day closure, many students from surrounding cities have returned home.

Girl students at Mohali’s Chandigarh University are afraid to use the Toilet after a video leak has recently sparked massive protests on campus. While the protests have subsided and the university has announced a two-day closure, many students from nearby cities have returned home.

Students claim that a female student shot up to 60 private videos of her hostel mates and sent them to her boyfriend in Shimla. They also claimed that some of the videos were shared on social media and porn sites.

However, police have denied this. They claim the girl recorded videos of herself and shared them with her boyfriend. Police have found no other video of any other girl and claim that rumor-mongering caused panic and student protests.

The girl, her boyfriend, and another boy, said to be her ex-boyfriend were all arrested.

During the protests last night, many female students told news that they were now afraid to use the restroom. Police have also begun investigating whether there are any hidden cameras in the hostel.

Another student stated that the police statements are inconsistent. “Why is she in jail if she only forwarded her video? Their statements are illogical. We want classes to resume and everything to return to normalcy, but we don’t want confusion.”

Another student protester blast the hostel warden, who was recently suspend for allegedly misbehaving with female students. “Where is the accused warden who claimed the problem is in your clothes, not the videos? She claimed that boys make lewd videos because of their clothing. Because of that warden, female students are hesitant to share information with university officials.”

According to senior police officer Navneet Singh Virk, police discovered only four videos of the girl on her phone.

“She sent them to her boyfriend. Her phone has been sent to be forensically examin. There was also no suicide attempt.” Several social media posts claim that several girls attempted suicide after leaked videos. However, police reported that some girls fainted during the protests.

Arvinder Singh Kang, the university’s director of student welfare, stated, “We filed an FIR to satisfy the students. Have you come across any MMS on social media? It’s missing because it doesn’t exist. There has been no death or attempted suicide. It remains to be seen how such rumors spread.”
