Check IMD updates on Bay of Bengal Cyclone

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has notified that a cyclone might form over the Bay of Bengal later this month.

Still, there is uncertainty about where it will make landfall or which direction it will move in.

IMD warned in a statement on Wednesday that a cyclonic circulation was anticipated to form over the region around Saturday.

“Under its influence, a low-pressure area is expected to form over the same region on Sunday, May 7th.” It is expected to form a depression over the Southeast Bay of Bengal on Monday, May 8th.”

The IMD stated that it may intensify as it moves northwards. “Details about its path and intensification will be provided after the low-pressure area forms.” The system is constantly monitored and under constant surveillance.”

According to M Mohapatra, director-general of the IMD, models indicate that the depression would likely grow into a cyclone.

“However, we cannot predict the monsoon’s path, where it will land, or which direction it will move.” This will become clear over the next few days.”

Some models predicted that the depression would intensify into a cyclonic storm near the Andaman Islands on Tuesday and then move nearly north-northeastwards towards the east-central Bay of Bengal until Thursday, skirting the Andaman Islands.

IMD states a new wet spell will start in northwest India on Saturday. This week, maximum temperatures are expected to be below or close to normal.

IMD reassured us that there would be no heat wave conditions anywhere in India for the next five days as of Tuesday.
