BJP’s 12th Pass Candidate Chhoti Kumari Defeats Bhojpuri Star

Political Newcomer Chhoti Kumari Stuns Bhojpuri Star in Chapra Race

As the NDA moves toward a decisive victory in Bihar’s assembly elections, a surprising upset is unfolding in Chapra constituency. BJP candidate Chhoti Kumari has emerged ahead of Bhojpuri singer-turned-politician Khesari Lal Yadav of the RJD, defying expectations that celebrity status would guarantee electoral success.

According to Election Commission trends as of 5:30 pm, Kumari maintains a commanding lead of over 6,100 votes, signaling strong support for the BJP in this fiercely contested seat. Her victory highlights a significant shift in voter preferences toward established political figures over celebrity appeal alone.

From Zila Parishad to MLA Candidate

Chhoti Kumari, who holds only a 12th-grade education, brings substantial political experience to the table. Previously serving as Zila Parishad Chairperson and District Council President of Chapra, she replaced sitting BJP MLA CN Gupta as the party’s candidate. Her husband, Dharmendra Sah, holds the position of District General Secretary of the BJP. Belonging to the Vaishya community, which represents a significant portion of local voters, Kumari has built deep roots within her constituency through grassroots engagement.

Chapra’s Complex Political Landscape

The Chapra constituency, situated within the Saran Lok Sabha region, has historically been shaped by intricate caste dynamics involving Yadavs, Rajputs, Vaishyas, and OBCs. This diverse demographic structure traditionally creates highly competitive elections where local connections often outweigh external fame factors.

The NDA alliance continues to strengthen its position across Bihar, currently leading at over 203 seats. Kumari’s success exemplifies how strong local organizational backing and political continuity can effectively counter celebrity candidates in contemporary Indian elections.
