The World Health Organization expressed disappointment at China’s failure to finalize the permits for the arrival of the group to examine the origin of the coronavirus, and World Health Body Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that on Tuesday (local time).

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated:

Members of the international research team on the source of the COVID-19 virus have started moving from their home countries to China over the past 24 hours. We learned today that Chinese officials have not yet completed the requisite permits for the team to arrive in China,’ he added.

The WHO Chief also said the official visit was jointly established by agreements between the WHO, the Government of China, and countries in which the team was intended to fly to Wuhan on their route.

The further WHO Chief stated:

He added, “I am very disappointed with that kind of news because two members had already started their journeys, but at the last minute, others were unable to travel.” But I have been in touch with senior Chinese officials and That I have made it quite clear once again that the task is a priority for both the WHO and the international team.

Tedros also said the global health agency is ready to “as soon as possible” get the mission started. Beijing had already said it would have complete access to the WHO’s expert panel to investigate the origin of the virus.

Trump has named it ‘China Virus’:

While China has rejected criticism of its treatment of early cases that arose at the end of 2019, during the outbreak, some leaders, including US President Donald Trump, challenged the behaviour of Beijing. Trump has also named it the ‘China Virus’ and has frequently called for “this plague” to be held responsible by the Chinese government.

Mike Pompeo slammed CCP:

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has also been slammed by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for trying to spread lies about Covid-19 while obstructing the World Health Organization (WHO) investigation to figure out the origin as well as the spread of the disease.

Sino-Australian relations are now in a downward spiral since April, when, by advocating an impartial foreign investigation into the roots of the Covid-19 pandemic, Canberra infuriated Beijing.

Journalist Zhang Zhan, detained for her live stream:

Hong Kong Free Press (HKFP) announced that citizen journalist Zhang Zhan, who was arrested in May for her live stream coverage from Wuhan on COVID-19, was convicted to four years in prison at the end of December.

In the tumultuous initial stages of the outbreak, she was accused of’ picking quarrels as well as provoking conflict’ for her reporting. According to the new Johns Hopkins University study, the world’s coronavirus infections currently stand at over 85 million cases and 1.8 million deaths.
