China is on Russia’s side, says Pentagon documents

The Pentagon documents say that the intercept of Russian intelligence reveals Beijing wanted to disguise fatal help as civilian items.

According to US government Pentagon documents, China approved fatal help to Russia for its war in Ukraine but wanted any shipments to stay a secret.

According to a piece in the Washington Post, a top-secret intelligence synopsis dated 23 February says that Beijing had approved the total provision of weapons to Moscow, which it would hide as civilian items.

The newspaper said the intelligence was collected by US agents eavesdropping on Russia’s intimate service discussions. It continued that the Russians said China’s central military committee wanted the shipments confidential.

A distinct intelligence file in the trove of revealed documents said Beijing would consider a “significant” Ukrainian attack with US or Nato weapons on Russian territory as an escalation of the battle that would merit sending arms to Russia.

The files were a portion of a large batch of leaked classified records that emerged on the online platform Discord last month. On Friday, Jack Teixeira, the 21-year-old charged with revealing the documents, appeared in court in Boston.

US officers have said the documents are authentic and have sensitive information, although some seem to have been doctored.
