On the event of the opening of the International Kite Festival 2023, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel stated that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi-started tradition of the Kite Festival has now taken on a universal significance.

The Kite Festival, he continued, is a chance to touch the sky and scale new heights. According to him, Gujarat’s festivals, like the Kite Festival, have gained international attention. The kite is a symbol of progress, progress, and flight.
The Chief Minister stated that this year’s kite festival would be held under the G-20’s “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” theme about the International Kite Festival in 2023.
India is the first country to host a G-20 summit under the prime minister’s leadership.
Such international conventions have begun taking place in India due to the Prime Minister’s efforts to strengthen and shine India’s image on international platforms.
Gujarat was also given a chance to host 15 G-20 meetings, which we can be proud of in Gujarat.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel stated that large-scale changes had been made in India, from the digital economy to the defence sector, thanks to the Prime Minister’s inspiring leadership.
With the highest growth rate, India’s economy has risen to 5th place globally. Furthermore, he declared that in this Azadi ka Amrit Kaal, we are determined to advance India’s development and create a developed country.
He added that he was confident Gujarat would achieve it because the Prime Minister is leading it with all the necessary resources.
We have emphasised issues like tourism and employment to maintain Gujarat’s development trajectory. Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel added that today’s kite festival is an illustration of that.
Concerning the Gujarat kite industry, the Chief Minister stated that the Prime Minister has introduced a new tradition of celebrating our traditional festivals, such as Lokotsav, with public participation.
Due to this, Gujarat alone now accounts for 40% of the nation’s kite industry, compared to Gujarat’s trade in kites of 8 to 10 crore rupees two decades ago.
He continued, “The kite industry has an annual turnover of Rs. 625 crores, and it employs about 1 lakh 30 thousand people.”
Tourism Minister Shri Mulu Bera stated that January 14 is Makar Sankranti, a great day when young and old can celebrate Uttarayan together, during her welcome address at the International Kite Festival.
He added that the celebration of Uttarayan, during which kites are flown in the sky as the Sun moves toward the northern half of the sky, carries a message of environmental preservation.
Uttarayan sees a clearer sky. The dialogue between God and man is accelerated as a result. He claimed that by giving Uttarayan prominence in its calendar, the tourism department has attempted to give a distinctive identity to our culture and civilization.

On the Uttarayan festival, various hues cover the sky, representing the colours of harmony and joy in religious diversity.
The Kite Festival, held at the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad, attracted 125 kite flyers from 68 different countries, 65 kite flyers from 14 different states, and over 660 kite flyers from various districts of Gujarat.
He continued by saying that it is essential for other nations to note what the International Kite Festival has taught them about preserving nature and culture.
At this festival was the mayor of Ahmedabad, Shri Kirit Parmar, the secretary of tourism, Shri Harit Shukla, the commissioner of the tourism department, Shri Alok Kumar Pandey, the collector of Ahmedabad, Shri Anil Dhamelia, as well as other dignitaries.
Kite flyers, diplomats, local MLAs, AMC office holders, corporators, and guests from home and abroad also attended.
