Congress offers DK Shivakumar the post of deputy CM ?
DK Shivakumar, the Karnataka Congress president, has been appointed as the state’s deputy chief minister, along with six responsibilities. However, no decision on the offer has yet been made, according to the office of DK Shivakumar.
The news comes as the Congress brass, including Rahul Gandhi, met with senior Congress leaders Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar on Wednesday, as the party prepares to name the next Karnataka chief minister following a landslide victory in the assembly election.
On the other hand, the Congress denied the reports and stated that discussions on the Karnataka CM position were ongoing.
According to reports, Siddaramaiah could be the next Karnataka chief minister. His inauguration is expected to take place on Thursday.
Despite the continuing controversy over the chief ministerial face, Shivakumar arrived at Sonia Gandhi’s residence at 10 Janpath in New Delhi on Wednesday to meet Rahul Gandhi.
Earlier in the day, former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah met with the Congress leader.
Earlier, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge met with all Karnataka stakeholders. Rahul Gandhi met Kharge on Tuesday to discuss establishing a government in the southern state.
Siddaramaiah arrived at Kharge’s house alongside his son Yatindra, as well as MLAs Zameer Ahmad, Bhyrati Suresh, and senior leader KJ George.
The outcomes of the assembly election were announced on Saturday, and the newly appointed Congress MLAs empowered Kharge to make a decision on Sunday. Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar arrived in Delhi as the action shifted to the capital.
The Congress gained 135 seats in the recently concluded Karnataka assembly election.
