For the past 13 days in a row, India has recorded fewer than 300 deaths due to coronavirus disease (Covid-19), even as the overall number of people who have succumbed to viral infection in the world has exceeded 150,000.
The country recorded 223 new fatalities on Wednesday, taking the total number of fatalities to 150,390. On March 12, 2020, the very first death due to Covid-19 in the nation was confirmed.
The Union health ministry in their statement:
“There is a gradual decline in the number of confirmed daily fatalities in the world… Low mortality levels have been assured by a successful containment policy, including timely tracing and monitoring, aggressive and widespread testing, together with standardized clinical management procedures.
The successful implementation by the governments of the State/UT has resulted in early detection of hospitalized patients, prompt isolation as well as timely clinical management, the Union Ministry of Health said in a report.
