The James Gunn-directed Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy gave former wrestler Dave Bautista his big break in Hollywood.
The Marvel movie Guardians of the Galaxy, helmed by James Gunn, gave former wrestler Dave Bautista his breakthrough role in Hollywood. He provided comic relief in the series while portraying the warrior Drax the Destroyer in the superhero franchise movie.
For his portrayal of Drax, the actor also won several praises. He bids the character farewell this year after six films over nine years.
Wrestlers entered the entertainment industry before Dave. Additionally, well-known figures in the field are Dwayne Johnson and John Cena. But since Dave started acting in 2006, both moviemakers and fans have noticed his eagerness to try new things.
In December, he appeared in Rian Johnson’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery as Duke, a former video game streamer who became an activist for men’s rights.
Additionally, Rian affirmed his belief that Dave can take on and complete a real dramatic lead role in a film by a reputable director.
Dave discussed taking his acting career to the next level in a recent interview with GQ magazine. He revealed that after all this time, he had to say goodbye to Drax because he is more eager to accept other roles to become a “respected actor.”
For four hours, the actor had to wear makeup to become Drax. “I’m so grateful for Drax,” he said. I adore him. But there is a sense of relief that it is over. It wasn’t all good. Playing that part was challenging.
I was exhausted from applying makeup. And I’m not sure if I want Drax to be my lasting performance because it’s a silly role, and I want to do more dramatic work.
In May, for James’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 of this year, Dave will reunite with his cast mates. He’ll be seen in M Night Shyamalan’s psychological horror movie Knock At The Cabin in February but before that.
Additionally, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Ben Aldridge, Jonathan Groff, and Rupert Grint appear in the movie. He will appear as the villain Glossu Rabban in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two later this year.
