The instructions, as agreed by the state government for the recruiting, have been sent to him on Monday. In total, 390 principals’ posts, as well as 1,504 assistant teachers’ posts in all of these institutions, will be filled, officials said.

The cut-off percentage clarified by the government:

The state government has explained the cut-off percentage for the hiring of junior high schools by the guideline. The step comes on the heels of controversy over the problem that emerged against 69,000 vacant positions during the recruitment of assistant teachers.

For general candidates as well as 60 per cent for all reserved category applicants, the qualifying percentage of the written exam for recruitment of 1,894 posts will be 65 per cent. As per the rules issued on 18 January, written tests will be carried out separately for the recruitment of principals as well as assistant teachers, respectively.

As per the guidelines by the Government:

As per the guidelines, the hiring test would be higher than the Teacher Eligibility Test for both positions (TET). The hiring exam for assistant teachers will have a period of 2.30 hours, wherein 150 multiple choice questions will be questioned each with one mark.

Applicants for the post of principal would also have to show up after the general question paper in an extra one-hour paper in which the guidelines specified also might be asked 50 questions relating to school management.

It added that a total of a minimum of 5 years of teaching knowledge would be compulsory for an applicant wishing to apply for the position of principal.

Online applications would be accepted for both the posts:

Separate online applications for both positions will be considered, as per the approved requirements. In the same online application, candidates who choose to apply for both positions will have the option of choosing both documents. Even then, the application fee will be payable separately, the guidelines said as well.

There is no specific guidance in the guidelines about the specific syllabus for the recruitment tests for the roles of principal as well as an assistant teacher.
