Actor Suvinder Pal Vicky has spoken about his experience working with filmmaker Aditya Dhar on Dhurandhar: The Revenge, sharing a behind-the-scenes look at how the director approached the film’s rougher language.

Expecting Heavy Censorship

Vicky plays a character in the film who relies heavily on abusive language, and he initially expected large portions of his dialogue to be muted or cut during censorship. He even joked that it might have been simpler to play a character who couldn’t speak at all, sparing him the trouble of extensive beeping across his scenes. But Dhar reportedly told him upfront that none of his lines would be removed, a response that caught the actor off guard given how strong the dialogue was.

Where Dhar Drew the Boundary

Taking the director’s assurance at face value, Vicky began considering whether he could push the abusive language even further through improvisation. That’s when Dhar stepped in. According to Vicky, the director made clear that certain kinds of expletives — specifically those invoking mothers and sisters — would not be part of the film, regardless of how raw the character’s voice needed to be. Dhar reportedly framed it as a matter of responsibility, noting that filmmakers need to be mindful of not hurting sentiments even while keeping content authentic.

Dhurandhar: The Revenge has been performing strongly at the box office, with Dhar previously expressing hope that the film could be recognised at the National Awards.
