Historic Milestone for Hindi Cinema

Ranveer Singh’s spy thriller Dhurandhar has etched its name in Indian cinema history by becoming the first Bollywood film to breach the ₹1000 crore gross mark at the domestic box office. The film achieved this remarkable feat in its eighth week of theatrical release, surpassing Shah Rukh Khan’s previous record-holder Jawan, which had earned ₹760 crore gross domestically.

Joining an Elite Club of Blockbusters

Dhurandhar now stands alongside only three other films that have crossed the ₹1000 crore milestone in India. Leading the pack is Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule with ₹1,471 crore, followed by SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion at ₹1,417 crore, and KGF Chapter 2 at ₹1,001 crore. Notably, Dhurandhar is the sole Bollywood film in this prestigious club, marking a significant achievement for Hindi cinema.

Global Success and Future Plans

Directed by Aditya Dhar and featuring an ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal, Dhurandhar has also dominated internationally. The film earned over $33 million in overseas markets despite regional bans, bringing its worldwide gross to approximately ₹1,300 crore. Producers have already announced Dhurandhar 2, scheduled for release in March, to continue the spy saga and capitalize on the film’s massive success.
