Dia Mirza expressed her support for Jaya Bachchan, who commented on the alleged harassment of the film industry by some of its representatives in Parliament.
Dia reminded in a tweet that film fraternity people have always played their part in giving back to the community and supporting governments.
Dia Mirza’s Tweet:
“Jayaji is right. So grateful that she spoke up for our industry. We are always committed to contributing to social upliftment and social good.
The industry has always helped governments. This vilification of our film industry is unjust and condemnable,” she wrote.
Jaya Bachan in Parliament:
Jaya, who’s a Samajwadi Party MP, raised the question of film industry representation as a ‘gutter’ on Tuesday.
“Social media is flogging the people in the entertainment industry. It has been named a gutter by people who made their names in the industry. I’m afraid I have to disagree.
I hope the government will tell those people not to use that sort of language, “she said, according to sources.
While Jaya did not take any names, it seems she was referring to the allegations of Kangana Ranaut that Bollywood is a ‘gutter’ and that 99 per cent of people in the film industry are engaged in drug use.
“You can’t tarnish the reputation of the whole industry just because there are some people here. I am embarrassed that yesterday in Lok Sabha, which is from the film industry, one of our members was speaking against it.
It is a shame,” she said, referring to comments made on Monday by BJP MP Ravi Kishan about the ‘drug abuse’ of the film industry.
Other Actors supporting Jaya Ji:
Other Bollywood celebrities came out in support of Jaya Bachan, following her explosive Rajya Sabha speech. She was praised by Sonam Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu, Richa Chadha, Anubhav Sinha, and others for speaking up for the movie fraternity.
Kangana to Jaya Ji:
Kangana hit Jaya back, however, asking if she’d feel the same way if her own twins, Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta Nanda, were threatened in the film industry.
Jaya Ji would you say the same thing if your daughter Shweta had been beaten, drugged, and molested as a teenage girl in my house, would you say the same something if Abhishek always complained of bullying and abuse and found hanging one day? They even have a love for us, “she said.
