Dinesh Karthik rises 108 places in the ICC T20I rankings

Karthik and Kishan were crucial players in India’s comeback in the five-match T20I series after losing the first two games.

Dinesh Karthik jumped 108 to 87th on the latest ICC T20 batting rankings thanks to his finishing finesse against SA in the recently concluded T20I series.

Karthik joined the Indian team after a stellar IPL season with the Royal Challengers Bangalore, where he incised 330 runs in 16 games at a 183.33 strike rate.

The 37-year-old was a key reason for India’s resurgence in the five-match T20I series after losing the first two games. Ishan Kishan, the HIGH scorer in the series with 206 runs and a strike rate of 150, also jumped in the rankings, occupying the sixth spot. This is the 1st time the 23-year-old has cracked the top ten ICC rankings. Also, he is the only Indian player to do so.

Kishan finished the series with two half-centuries against South Africa. And he was the series’ leading run-scorer with 206 runs at an intermediate of 41. That form propelled the left-hander up one spot to sixth in the latest T20 batter rankings. Pakistan captain Babar Azam has maintained his lead in the T20 batting rankings.

Yuzvendra Chahal was the big mover in the T20 rankings among bowlers. Following his six wickets in the South Africa series, the spinner jumped to 23rd.

Josh Hazlewood remained the top-ranked T20 bowler. While Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan (joint third) and Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga moved up a spot.

Ravindra Jadeja, who is now in the United Kingdom for India’s one-off Test against England at Edgbaston, has retained his top spot in the Test all-rounders’ list with 385 rating points. Bangladesh captain Shakib al Hasan comes in second place with 346 rating points.
