Trump said, “India reacted very well to my request. Appreciate that” as he showed up in a taped gathering with a group of US residents who were snatched or kept abroad.

He got bail on 11 October. On 31 December 2019, Indian Customs gave a show-cause notice appropriating the $40,000 and forcing a punishment of Rs3 lakh (generally $4,000). In January, Nerren gave up the whole sum and paid the fine. Following months of diplomatic efforts, Nerren was released and permitted to get back to the US on 15 May 2020.
