On the first night of the Republican National Convention, Trump broadcasts how he has secured American citizens, who were detained abroad.

US President Donald Trump has acknowledged India for tuning in to his solicitation to deliver an American pastor who was captured in October on charges of conveying $40,000 of undeclared cash. 

Donald Trump thanks India at the Republican National Convention:

Tennessee pastor Bryan Nerren, who was delivered by India after intercession by Trump in May, went to a round table with the President in the Oval Office of the White House alongside a few other American residents who were delivered from abroad kidnappings and detentions. Trump said, “India reacted very well to my request. Appreciate that” as he showed up in a taped gathering with a group of US residents who were snatched or kept abroad. 

American Citizen was arrested in India for carrying undeclared currency:

The taped roundtable was broadcast on Monday, during the principal night of the four-day Republican National Convention. Nerren clarified that he had been captured by Indian authorities while going in the nation. Nerren, from the International House of Prayer Ministries, was captured in Bagdogra, West Bengal, in October and accused of abusing the Foreign Exchange Management Act for going with $40,000 of undeclared money. He got bail on 11 October. On 31 December 2019, Indian Customs gave a show-cause notice appropriating the $40,000 and forcing a punishment of Rs3 lakh (generally $4,000). In January, Nerren gave up the whole sum and paid the fine. Following months of diplomatic efforts, Nerren was released and permitted to get back to the US on 15 May 2020.

The individuals who showed up in the taped gathering with Trump included Michael White, a US Navy veteran who was captured in July 2018 while visiting his sweetheart in Iran, and Sam Goodwin, a world explorer who entered northern Syria from Iraq on 25 May 2019 and was arrested for not having a visa. Other people who showed up on the video were Andrew Brunson, a minister, and Joshua and Tamara Holt. Every one of them quickly related their accounts and said thanks to Trump for his efforts to make sure about their release.
