Drishyam: The Conclusion Is Not a Remake of Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3

India, Oct. 5 – Ajay Devgn returns as Vijay Salgaonkar in Drishyam: The Conclusion, but viewers expecting a scene-by-scene adaptation of Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3 will be disappointed. The Hindi film is not a remake of its Malayalam counterpart. The two franchises, once closely aligned, have now split into separate narrative paths.

A First for the Hindi Franchise

The first two Hindi Drishyam films closely followed their Malayalam originals. This time, the makers have changed course. Devgn confirmed before release that The Conclusion is the first film in the series built on an entirely new screenplay. Director Abhishek Pathak has said the Hindi and Malayalam versions are now moving in different directions. As a result, the two third chapters tell different stories, even though both continue the saga of the same central character.

The new script adds fresh pressure to Salgaonkar’s world. Jaideep Ahlawat joins the cast as Rajveer Singh Tomar, whose arrival sets up a new cat-and-mouse contest. Meanwhile, the film revisits the old case at the heart of the series, keeping the past firmly in play.

What to Watch Before the Film

Newcomers need not worry about catching up on the Malayalam films. To follow the story, audiences only need to have seen Devgn’s Drishyam and Drishyam 2. Mohanlal’s instalments are no longer required viewing for understanding the Hindi saga.

With the franchises diverging, fans now have two distinct third chapters to compare. For those who know how the Malayalam story unfolds, Drishyam: The Conclusion offers the chance to be genuinely surprised. For everyone else, it stands as a self-contained continuation of the Hindi series.
