Ektaa Kapoor Praises Akshay Kumar for Sustaining Bollywood’s Commerce

Film producer Ektaa Kapoor has publicly praised Akshay Kumar for his prolific work ethic, crediting him as one of the key reasons Bollywood’s commercial ecosystem continues to thrive. Taking to Instagram, Ektaa shared a heartfelt note alongside photos of Akshay with her father, veteran actor Jeetendra, drawing a striking parallel between the two personalities.

“Their discipline and their belief in the producer’s conviction, along with deep trust and respect, is just wonderful,” she wrote, noting how conversations with Akshay often remind her of talking to her father.

Why Volume Matters in Bollywood

Ektaa addressed the frequently asked question of why Akshay takes on multiple film projects every year. She argued that consistent output from top-tier actors is what keeps the broader industry machinery running, not just its upper echelons. According to her, doing a handful of films with marquee directors sustains only one layer of the industry, whereas actors who work regularly give every producer — big or small — a fighting chance.

“In volume, there is job creation. That is what they bring to the table,” she emphasized, likening Akshay’s contribution to that of legends like Dharmendra and Jeetendra.

Bhooth Bangla Continues Strong Box Office Run

The appreciation comes on the back of Akshay’s latest release, Bhooth Bangla, directed by Priyadarshan. Backed by Balaji Motion Pictures and Cape of Good Films, the horror-comedy features Paresh Rawal, Tabu, Rajpal Yadav, and Wamiqa Gabbi. The film has crossed ₹113 crore at the box office and marks a nostalgic reunion between Akshay and Priyadarshan, who previously collaborated on beloved comedies such as Hera Pheri and Garam Masala.
