Delay in Exam Leaves Gujarat Technology University Students in Limbo

Twenty-one engineering students from colleges affiliated with Gujarat Technology University (GTU) anxiously await the exam timetable as the university prepares to announce semester results.

Sacrifices Made for Participation in Smart India Hackathon:

In December, these students had to forgo their university exams to participate in the GTU-organised Smart India Hackathon. Over a month and a half later, GTU has not announced the rescheduled exam dates.

In a similar predicament, 170 other students missed exams to participate in state and national-level sports events.

Uncertainty Surrounds Impact on Results:

This uncertainty affects many students, as semester exams were held in December, and the results are due soon. Any delay in scheduling and conducting the exams raises questions about the impact on their results.

GTU admits to delay. GTU officials have acknowledged the delay in announcing new or rescheduled dates.

Gujarat Technology University Plans for Rescheduled Exams:

Registrar K N Kher provided some reassurance, stating. “There are over 180 such students who will have to appear for the rescheduled exam. There is a plan to conduct these exams from February 27, and an official circular is expected to be out soon.”

Student Concerns and Frustrations:

A student, preferring to remain anonymous, expressed their concerns: “When the examination dates clashed with the state government’s smart hackathon event, we faced a tough choice: miss the exam or the event. 

After discussing with the university, the college assured us they would soon conduct the exam to ensure our results weren’t affected. However, one and a half months later, we’re still waiting for an official circular about the exam.”
