In order to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the current protests against the three farm laws.
Their only appeal is to repeal the three anti-farmer laws,’ a farmers’ leader said that while during a press conference.
Farmers demonstrating on the Delhi-Jaipur highway also have made free arrangements of buses to ferry farmers around their homes to protest sites in Rajasthan.
The laws in question were not hurriedly passed in Parliament; there have been years of discussions,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In order to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the current protests against the three farm laws, farmers across the country will mark Sunday, December 20, as ‘Shradhanjali Diwas.’
To remember the contributions made by farmers although the agitation began, prayer meetings will also be organized, farmers’ leaders stated, reiterating their request for a rolling back of the farm laws.
Gujrat, Haryana, and Rajasthan farmers protesting from 7 days:
Farmers from Gujarat, Haryana, and Rajasthan have been protesting on the Delhi-Jaipur highway close to the Haryana-Rajasthan border also for the past 7 days after the Rewari police prevented them from heading for Delhi. Thousands of other farmers were prohibited from entering and halting at their borders with neighbouring states in the national capital.
As the Farmers leader stated during a press conference:
Lakhs of farmers are on the streets around Delhi in the midst of the extreme cold. As they are determined to achieve their goal, they brave the cold and other hurdles generated by the government. Their only appeal is to repeal the three anti-farmer laws,’ a farmers’ leader said that
while addressing a press conference at the Jaisinghpura-Khera village protest site near Shahajahanpur in Alwar, Rajasthan.
Free bus services for farmers:
Farmers demonstrating on the Delhi-Jaipur highway also have made free arrangements of buses to ferry farmers around their homes to protest sites in Rajasthan. These free bus services would encourage more individuals; farmers said to join the protests.
The reason for Farmers being Protesting:
The farmers are protesting because they feel that the laws would put them at the hands of big companies and put an end to the minimum price of support (MSP) they earn for essential crops. In the meantime, the Centre argued that the farmers were fooled into believing this and that the laws were a step towards improving the lives of the farmers.
“The laws in question were not hurriedly passed in Parliament; there have been years of discussions,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that the government’s top priority is the wellbeing of farmers.
