For the first time in 350 years, Havanashtami was performed by Maharani Preetidevi of the Kutch dynasty.
Not only that, the history of making a leaf which is associated with Mana Ashirwad, was also completed in just 3 minutes and 58 seconds.
The case came to court in 2009 after a dispute in the Royal Family over the right to a dowry in the mother’s womb.
With the death of the late Maharaja Pragmalji (III) on May 28 this year and no direct heir (offspring), there was a legal battle in the Bhuj court over who should perform the rites. Just 22 days ago, the court rejected the other’s claim, questioning why a woman could not perform Mataji’s pooja.
“Many people protested, finally the truth prevailed,” said
Maharani Preetidevi, in an exclusive interview, protested, but in the end, the truth prevailed. We were happy when the court ruled in our favour.
This is the victory of manhood. This historic decision is a testament to the true development of Kutch. I have prayed to Madhavali that Mataji’s blessings remain on my territory. Within seconds of counting, I had taken the mani patri. This is the first time that has happened. ‘
