Forensic teams arrived at the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border at Ghazipur to collect forensic samples as part of their investigation.
The accused, Ajay Rathee, stole the wireless device from a constable deployed at Nangloi Chowk in such a Vajra van (a special police car).
On Friday afternoon, forensic teams reached the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border at Ghazipur to gather forensic samples as part of their investigation into the violence throughout the farmers’ tractor march on 26 January.
A notice appealing to people, including media staff, to send videos as well as any other information relevant to the Republic Day violence was also issued by the police.
As one of the Senior Police stated:
Senior police officers, who requested not, to be identified said the special cell (anti-terror unit) of the law enforcement agency which is investigating the suspected conspiracy against Tuesday’s violence, released notices to several farm leaders as well as other demonstrators, including Deep Sidhu, a Punjab actor, and also Lakha Sadhana, a gangster-turned activist.
A second police officer, who requested not to be identified said that they also checked the Delhi border protest places on Friday, but did not find either Sidhu or Sadhana.
The two are being charged with sedition under the UAPA:
The two have been investigated on sedition charges across the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) over allegedly plotting to cause violence on Republic Day throughout the national capital and “creating an international shame for the government during Republic Day,” according to the Delhi Police FIR, besides the incidents of violence as well as rioting.
Similarly, during a tractor rally in Nangloi on Tuesday, the cops detained a 22-year-old farmer for robbing a police officer of a wireless device.
A Koan, a deputy commissioner of police, stated in a press conference:
The accused, Ajay Rathee, stole the wireless device from a constable deployed at Nangloi Chowk in such a Vajra van (a special police car). On the basis of intelligence reports, we recovered the gadget and also arrested him,’ says A Koan, deputy police commissioner, during a press release.
In the previous three criminal cases reported in Delhi, one under the Weapons Act as well as two under the Excise Act, the officer claimed Rathee, a citizen of Rohtak in Haryana, were identified to be involved.
