India’s recovery rate crosses 68 percent, as the
tally of coronavirus cases rose to 20,88,612.
On Friday, fresh 61,537 COVID-19 infections were registered in India. For a
second consecutive day, cases in the country have remained above the 60,000
mark. The fresh daily rise took the country’s tally to 20,99,612. This spike in
cases means that for a fourth consecutive day, India has recorded the highest
number of fresh cases in a single-day, worldwide. As per the World Health
Organization, cases in
India in the past 4 days have been more than the US and Brazil. In the last 24
hours, the total number of deaths in the country were 933, which has increased
the nation’s death toll to 42,518.
Recovery rate improves to 68.32

As per the latest data revealed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, a total of 14,27,006 patients have recovered from the fatal virus. The tally of active cases in the country stood at 619,088, clearly indicating that there has been a drop in the growth rate of the active cases. The recovery rate in the country improved to 68.32 percent. On Friday, 5.98 lakh samples were tested across the nation and so far, over 2.33 crore samples have been tested, revealed the data released by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Maharashtra, the worst-affected
COVID-19 state, registered fresh 10,483 infections, taking the total caseload
to over 4.9 lakh. Tamil Nadu is second, with more than 2.85 lakh infections,
followed by Andhra Pradesh at 2.06 lakh cases. Karnataka has overtaken Delhi’s coronavirus tally and sits at the fourth position with
1.64 lakh cases.
Globally, more than 19.3
million people have been affected by the deadly disease, with over 7.21 lakh
patients dying.
