G Parameshwara views on Karnataka CM selection is surprising

On Wednesday, Congress leader G Parameshwara stated there is no dispute in selecting the new Karnataka chief minister, despite frantic negotiations in the national capital for the top job.

“Let me state unequivocally that there is no controversy in the selection of the Karnataka Chief Minister.” A protocol is being followed.

The party’s high command is meeting with the CM contenders, and the decision will be made today or tomorrow,” said G Parameshwara, who has emerged as the third contender in the race to become chief minister after DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah.

“It is natural for Dalits who vote in Congress to seek representation.” Everyone in the party’s senior command is familiar with me. They will do so if Dr Parameshwara must be created (CM). “I’m not going to lobby,” he continued.

Parameshwara’s statement comes at a time when the grand old party is attempting to break the leadership stalemate that has resulted from its landslide victory in the Karnataka elections.

Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal is visiting UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi at her home. Siddaramaiah, too, has arrived to speak with the Congress veteran.

According to ANI, Karnataka Congress working president Eshwar Khandare and other MLAs attend Kharge’s residence in the national capital.

According to reports, Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar will visit Rahul Gandhi individually in the capital today.

According to HT, Congress attempted to break the impasse by presenting solutions to Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah.

One of the proposals was to make Siddaramaiah the chief minister and DKS his deputy, with control over crucial portfolios such as finance.

However, the possibilities have failed to impress both leaders who have stood firm.

Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar are the two key architects of the Congress triumph in the polls, and they have attempted to present a united front in public.

The Congress legislative party had endorsed a one-line resolution authorising Kharge to decide on Sunday.

The Congress observers Sushil Kumar Shinde, Deepak Babaria, and Jitendra Singh had asked the newly elected MLAs who they wanted as CM. According to their report to the party’s senior echelon, at least 85 MPs back Siddaramaiah.
