Avni Lekhra was the flag bearer of the Indian contingent at the closing ceremony of the Tokyo Paralympics.
The 19-year-old shooter has won 2 medals, including gold, in Tokyo. Avni has won a gold medal in the SH1 category 10m air pistol and a bronze medal in the 50m rifle three positions. Apart from Avni, Sinharaj won two medals in Tokyo. He has won a bronze medal in the 10m air pistol and a silver medal in the 50m air pistol.
11 players from India are participating in the
closing ceremony. 5 athletes participated in the opening ceremony on 24th August. Shotputer Tekchand was then the flag bearer.
He replaced the high jumper Mariyappan Thangavelu. Mariyappan came in contact with an infected person in Corona during air travel. After which they were quarantined, and in their place, Tekchand was made the flag bearer.
India has
won 19 medals at the Tokyo Paralympics. In 53 years so far, 12 medals have come in 11 Paralympics.
In badminton, 7 players participated, 4 won medals and
badminton was included in the Paralympics for the first time. In Teva, 7 Indian players participated in various categories. In which four players have won medals. Pramod Bhagat and Krishna Nagar have won gold, Suhas Yathiraj has won silver, and Manoj Sarkar has won bronze.
